Hot Stamping Foil Manufacturer — 46 Years of Proprietary Formulation
Since its establishment in 1980, Lihyang Foil Technology has dedicated over 40 years to the hot stamping foil industry, becoming a leading hot stamping foil manufacturer globally through its proprietary formulations. Based in Tainan, Taiwan, our products are exported to over 60 countries, providing high-quality, stable hot stamping foil solutions for various industries — from exquisite packaging decoration to enhanced anti-counterfeiting features.
What is hot stamping foil? The 5-layer structure
Hot stamping foil is a material that transfers a pre-coated decorative or functional layer from a carrier film onto a substrate using heat and pressure. Its intricate structure typically consists of five key layers, working together to deliver outstanding performance and visual effect:
- Carrier Film — a polyester (PET) base that supports all coated layers and is peeled off after transfer.
- Release Layer — special resins that soften under heat and pressure, allowing the decorative layer to separate cleanly from the carrier.
- Metallic / Color Layer — the core visual layer: vacuum-metallized aluminum for metallic foils, or pigment/dye for non-metallic foils.
- Adhesive Layer — a heat-activated adhesive that bonds firmly to the substrate surface under heat and pressure.
- Sizing — an optional extra layer that enhances adhesion on difficult substrates.
Our product range — 120+ colors across 8 base types
Lihyang offers one of the industry's broadest hot stamping foil ranges, with 120+ standard colors across eight base types:
- Metallic Gloss Series — classic gold and silver foils for a luxurious, refined finish.
- Pearlescent Series — soft, delicate pearl luster that elevates perceived quality.
- Holographic Series — dynamic rainbow effects (see our Holographic Foil page).
- Matte Series — understated matte finish for modern, minimalist design.
- Toner Reactive Series — engineered for hot stamping after digital (toner) printing.
- UV Digital Series — for hot stamping after UV digital printing, with wider design freedom.
- Special Function Series — abrasion-resistant, chemical-resistant and anti-counterfeiting properties.

Substrate compatibility
| Substrate | Typical Applications | Stamping Considerations |
|---|---|---|
| Paper | Packaging boxes, book covers, cards | Surface coating, ink absorbency, fibers |
| Plastic | Cosmetic containers, electronics, labels | Material type (PP/PE/ABS/PVC), surface treatment |
| Leather | Leather goods, footwear, furniture | Surface texture, flexibility, coating |
| Fabric | Apparel, textiles, labels | Fiber composition, weave, wash durability |
| Wood | Furniture, crafts, building materials | Surface flatness, porosity, finish |
For specific substrates, our technical team can provide tailored recommendations.
The Golden Triangle — Temperature × Pressure × Dwell Time
Successful hot stamping comes down to precisely balancing the three elements of the "Golden Triangle":
- Temperature: 90°C–180°C, depending on foil type, substrate and equipment.
- Pressure: 100 kg/cm²–500 kg/cm², based on design area and substrate hardness.
- Dwell Time: 0.1–2 seconds, shorter on high-speed presses.
Our experts help you analyze your specific requirements and recommend precise parameters. For detailed troubleshooting, see our Foil Selection by Substrate guide, or compare techniques in Hot Foil vs Cold Foil.
